I am trying to install my HP Photosmart C4240 All-in-One to my new HP Pavilion g6 with Windows 7. I try to do the installation with the CD the All-in-One came with but it's not working on the new laptop saying it's not compatible. When I connected the USB cord to the laptop I was able to use the printer but not the scanner. I used to be able to see the ink level and now I can't see that. I wish I could because there's something going on with my black ink that I thought was full. Please help! I have not been able to use my printer because of problems with my old laptop, then there was problems with the tri-color ink. Got a new laptop and a new ink cartridge, I'm still having issues! PLEASE HELP ME!

Forget using the menu function on the printer. Instead use the Windows Fax and Scan from the programs menu. Its much easier and works everytime.

I don't even know if it's installed correectly? My CD, Version 9.0.1, wouldn't work because it's for Windows 2000, XP, Vista. Shouldn't I do an install with CD or divers? All I did was plugged in the USB cord and was able to print. I would like to have the use of everything like I had before.

Yep - that's the way it is with Windows 7, the printer CD/DVDs aren't required, the printer just works - except for the scanning function. As I said, just hook up you printer to your laptop as normal and use the Windows Scan and Fax. Its a far simpler method that using your printer menu anyway.
