Installed 64-bit Vista SP2, printer not working

I have a Officejet J6480.  Today, I updated to Service Pack 2 for 64-bit Vista,  and now, cannot print.  However, I can scan on the Officejet and send the image to my PC.   This shows the network is working.

I uninstalled the HP software & drivers and reinstalled them, but no difference.  It still does not work.   I stopped the Print Spooler and made sure the Spooler was empty and everything was fine there.

Everything worked fine prior to the upgrade.  Any advice?

Re: Installed 64-bit Vista SP2, printer not working

SP2 only came out 2 days ago, and this is the first instance of a problem occuring after upgrading to SP2. Unfortunately, i have no other suggestions other than uninstalling SP2 and going back to SP1.

Re: Installed 64-bit Vista SP2, printer not working

I (Microsoft Update) installed it yesterday and my printer is no longer working as well.  I can see it, it is my default printer, it shows offline or online correctly, I can see documents from my other PC in the que, but when I try to print Vista tells me that I don't have a printer installed.  Also, when I click on the printer in the Printers panel, it tells me that there is no printer driver installed.

I uninstalled the printer and deleted the drivers, reinstalled the printer with the latest drivers from HP, it found the printer on the network and completed the installation without error.  BUT, I still have the same symptoms as in the previous paragraph.

Re: Installed 64-bit Vista SP2, printer not working

Ditto.  Vista Ultimate x64 on dv2500.  Installed SP2 on 08-22-2009, printers show up as installed, and online/offline.  Attempting to print to any printer results in error.  Doesn't appear to be a spooler issue.  True for physical printers and also for "virtual printers" (e.g. print to pdf).  Rolled back to pre-SP2 restore point, everything working again.

Re: Installed 64-bit Vista SP2, printer not working

I am not sure if you have resolved this yet or not but try this; Go to the printers folder, right click on the printer icon and click properties. Go to the advanced tab and make sure the driver is still set to use the correct printer driver.
