When I try to install this I get the message that it is not compatible with this system. It is ok with XP, but not Vista. I know there is a way to fix this, but I don't know what it is.

The 2610 came out before VIsta was released so the drivers on the CD are for XP. You can download the drivers from HP here or order a CD with Vista drivers.
If you have the duplexer (optional on the 2610) you will want the patch to correct the back-side-upside-down issue when using the duplexer.
