LaserJet 1020 Drivers Install Okay but Leopard-X Can't Find Them

I could not find the LaserJet-1020 drivers on the manufacturer's website. I Googled "LaserJet 1020" and discovered that the "1022" drivers are actually the "1020" drivers. This was borne out when I downloaded and installed the nominally "1022" drivers all informational messages during installation said 1022.

I went to the LaserJet-1022 website and downloaded the LaserJet 1020 drivers. (The download and install messages all say "LaserJet 1020" NOT LaserJet-1022.)

I successfully installed the LaserJet-1020 drivers according to all messages. When I went to set the LaserJet-1020 as my default printer, only the PhotoSmart-D7460 was in the "available" list. I clicked on the "+" box in the "Printer & Fax" in the "System Preferences" to add a new printer and the LaserJet-1020 appeared in the printer list. However the "Print Using:" tells me I must select a driver from the drop-down list. Neither the LaserJet-1020 nor the LaserJet-1022 appear in the list.

Last time I posted this message I was told I was in the Laptop forum. This time I followed the printer thread on the begin search page. I hope this is in the correct forum.

wether were in the correct foum

either laptop or desktop would have worked

check the other forum for any new posts

ok the HP LJ 1020 printer does not have a mac drivers

but the HP LJ 1022 does have one mac driver

i have a mac laptop

first when u did the download

did u pay attention where you put save it at

if not and u cant find it

redownload and put where u know where u can find it

and when u get to the print and fax

i would find the file that where u put it

and install from there

if no succes result

check on this site

Hey did you ever find a solution to this? I'm having the exact same problem, I install the driver just fine but then the 'Add Printer' utility can't find it at all. Any help?
