Laserjet 600 envelope problem

New HP LaserJet 600 won't automatically pull envelopes from optional envelope feeder.  The user has to use the control panel on the printer to allow it to pull from a different tray then it will pull the envelope from the tray.  The control panel displays 'Load Tray 1: Plain, Env#10'.

If I change the default paper type to 'envelope' from 'envelope tray' it will pull automatically from the envelope feeder but then won't automatically feed letter size paper from tray 2.

Using driver 51.114.1.10295.  Don't know if it is related but the auto-update changes the RAM to 256 rather than 512meg and the envelope feeder changes to 'not installed'.  Also tried using the Universal Driver with the same results.

The product you have seems to be a commercial printer. For the best chance at finding a solution I would suggest posting in the forum for HP Business Support!

Sorry - no solution. After being ignored by HP and having a local HP tech verify the problem was not 'user error' I returned the printer and canceled the order for 3 more.

Because the firmware and drivers are still the same version as of today I can only assume the problem still exists.

It is a shame that HP has such horrible support and even worse that they would ship a printer that cannot correctly handle envelopes or even extra trays for that matter.

To make matters even worse I ordered a discontinued 4015 but it is still in the box because the envelope feeders have been unavailable for months.  Looks like the 4015 will be going back and we'll be going with something other than HP from here on out.

It's sad to see a company that used to set the standard in this area now come to selling printers that can't handle basic printing from more than one tray.  And this is 6 months after the printers release.

For those of you looking at the 600 series you're better off looking elsewhere.
