Hello David
If the "The Driver for Your Product Is Included in the Windows 7 Operating System" article is unable to install the printer then try the following instructions to manually add the printer through the "Devices and Printers".
1. Open devices and printer
2. Click Add a printer
3. Click Add a local printer
4. From the Use existing port select the USB option (or switch from USB001 to IP Address and then enter the IP address), and then click next
5. Click on the Windows Update button to get all support window 7 drivers updated
6. Once update is finished. Click on HP from left menu, and then select the PSC 2410 from the right menu, and then click next. NOTE: (It may be named for the series. Example: PSC 2400 series)
7. Follow the remaining instructions to complete the installation.
Please let me know if you still run into any problems. Also are you connecting it through USB or over a network.

Hi Travis,
I have an icon for "psc 2400 series" in my printers and devises menu that has a yellow triangle with an exclaimation point in it. When I click on the "psc 2400 series" icon I get "Scan a document or picture," "Manage scan profiles," and "View scanner properties" icons, and a "Browse files" folder.
When I click on "Add a printer," "Add a local printer," "Use an existing port: USB001 (Virtual printer port for USB)," and "Windows Update," I get a "Select Device" message saying "Windows was unable to get a list of devices from Windows Update. Please try again later." I've done that many times over 2 days. Later never comes.

Hello David_M
Is the computer connected to the internet?
Do you have any firewall or antivirus applications? They may be preventing Windows from receiving the update. Does the regular Windows Update work?

Hi Travis,
Yes, the computer is connected to the internet.
Yes, there is a McAfee anti-virus program and firewall. It usually prompts me when something wants in.
I do receive Windows Updates and all of the current updates are installed, including the optional ones. Windows Update is set to Automatic.
I have a Lenovo G555 laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit that I'm trying to connect to my HP PSC 2410.
HP Support & Drivers says that the driver is included in Windows 7 but the computer says the driver is missing.
The HP PSC 2410 works with and prints from my old Dell Latitude laptop running XP.
I have an icon for "psc 2400 series" in my printers and devices menu that has a yellow triangle with an exclaimation point in it. When I click on the "psc 2400 series" icon I get "Scan a document or picture," "Manage scan profiles," and "View scanner properties" icons, and a "Browse files" folder.
When I click on "Add a printer," "Add a local printer," "Use an existing port: USB001 (Virtual printer port for USB)," and "Windows Update," I get a "Select Device" titled message saying "Windows was unable to get a list of devices from Windows Update. Please try again later." I've done that many times over 4 days. Later never comes.
I tried doing what one poster suggested about loading the driver for HP psc 1600 series without success.
I remove the psc 2400 series icon and restart my computer before trying to add a printer.

Hello David_M
Remove the printer from Devices and Printers and restart your computer.
After download the HP Printer install Wizard for Windows 7 and see if that works.

Hi Travis,
I'll let you know after I get home and can connect to the HP PSC 2410 printer. I have an HP LaserJet Pro M1212nf MFP at work, which gives me fax receipt problems from certain faxes on my VoIP. I can fax to them but not receive from them.
Thanks,
Dave

Hello David_M
I am awaiting your response for the problem with the PSC 2410.
As for your laserjet problem the following article contains troubleshooting for Problems sending and Receiving faxes. I also suggest using the HP Fax Test Service service to test if you can receive from another source. It is also good to keep in mind if you ever need to test your fax.

Hi Travis,
I followed the directions for the Wizard, which had a different way to get to the Add a printer menu. An almost identical menu appeared where I could choose HP under the manufacturer and select from the list of printer models, which still did not include the HP PSC 2400 Series. However, there was no Windows Update button. The Wizard suggested selecting a compatible printer, but I didn't know which one would be considered compatible. The Wizard had no other option in case my printer was not listed. I couldn't copy the list or the Wizard text using CTL A & CTL C.
I have lots of detailed info about what I've tried to fix my fax issues with my 1212nf MFP, but I'm guessing I should start a new thread. I know about the HP FaxBack Test and it always works for all of my faxes and all of my VoIP lines. It is only certain faxes that I can't receive from but I can send faxes to them.

Hello David_M
I think I located a fix for the "Windows was unable to get a list of devices from Windows Update. Try again later" message you are receiving. I had just received that same message on one of my Windows 7 machines and had got the same problem. The following instructions allowed it to update successfully.
Below is an excerpt of the post by Gearsawe on Microsoft Answers:
-----
1. Open Task Manager (Ctrl-Alt-Del)
2. Click Sevices Tab and then Services Button (Bottom Right)
3. Under Name find "Windows Update"
4. Right click "Windows Update" and select Stop. do not close
5. Open Window Exploper and browse to C:\Windows
6. Delete the Folder "SoftwareDistribution"
7. Go back to Servies, Right click "Windows Update" and select Start
Now the "Windows Update" button should work. For me I have to do this every time I install a printer which requires me to use windows update
