So my tinkering with the internal HD solved nothing. In the meantime, HP sent me an email telling me that my case was magically closed. I had to call back today, open a new case, and jump through a few hoops before the final resolution: HP is sending out a technician to replace the faulty hard drive. The HP rep told me today that this is a known problem with these particular Western Digital hard drives in this particular model of HP Laserjets and that they are doing their best to replace all of the WD HDs in the M3035s out there.
Problem finally solved.

My replacement drive arrived today, I will be replacing the faulty, this should fix it. I also update the firmware however after 2 hour the 49.FF81 Error Code appeared.
I will update tomorrow to let you know the results of swapping out the drive.
