My new All-in-One does not print Excel worksheets

I have a new Officejet 4500 printer. The driver cd did not work so I downloaded the driver from the HP website. It now prints web pages and Word documents all right, but when i try to print an Excel worksheet (I have Excel 2003) it only prints a badly deformed first column. What is the problem? Can anyone help? Thanks a lot.
