That's because HP is clueless on how to take care of customers. They dont' care. They don't answer posts here. Their exec reponse team doesn't return phone calls. We've been sure to tell ALL our customers this and we now have customers looking elsewhere for printers.

Try choosing the HP LaserJet 4345 Drivers instead. With that, I am able to print locally, as well as over our wireless home network.

Read the posts, it's not printing that's a problem, it's network scanning that's the problem. HP's cruddy installer can't find a printer in Win7 x64 that EVERY other computer on the LAN can find even after a virgin install of Win7. HP needs new programmers and Q&A folks.

Are you using the CD provided in the box or did you download the latest from HP.com? If you're using the CD provided in the box, you'll need to download the latest software release for Windows 7 support.
You can get the latest at the following location
Select Software & Driver Downloads
Select Operating System then Next
Select "+" next to Software
For English systems select "HP LaserJet M2727 MFP Series Full Solution AM-EMEA1" to download.(Select other regions as appropriate)
After downloading it, Run the download and follow the instructions.
If problems persist, please post information on what problems are still being seen.

Yes, I've downloaded it several times. The installer fires up but can never find the printer. I'm able to use the XP installer on XP and it finds the printer 100% of the time, but the Win7 x64 installer NEVER finds it. I'm able to manually extract the drivers and install the actual printer, but network scanning is dead in the water in Win7. Dell's 1815N (long since discontinued and with NO "support" for Win7, works 100% of the time in Win7!) and cost 1/2 what the M2727 cost. HP will end up with no printer customers if you can't or won't fix your problems.
I'm not an HP employee an am posting as an IT consultant with recommendation abilities at hundreds of locations across N America. As a consultant I live and die based on my recommendations and if I recommend equipment from vendors who can't or won't help without extorting fees from customers (you guys want $90 to solve an installer issue!) I simply won't recommend HP products. It's really up to HP.

I was the original poster for this thread. In response to Terabytenet, I coincidentally had purchased the M2727 to replace my Del 1815dn, after Dell's website said it would not support Win 7 for that 2 year-old MFP. I found that after taking back the M2727 due to its limited network functionality in Win 7 (printer only), I tried the available Dell 1815dn drivers with my new Win 7 system, and found they worked just fine after all. I am still using the 1815dn today as a multifunction networked device.

When you select the network connection choice, have you tried all options for finding the device, i.e. Auto search, IP Address, Hostname, and MAC address?
Is there a firewall on the Windows 7 PC that could be blocking the search for the device? Sometimes a firewall application will display a prompt to allow the network search and sometimes, this prompt gets hidden by the installer window or other windows. You can use alt-tab to check through the windows to see if a prompt is being hidden.
If you go to a command prompt and enter ping -a <ip address> does the IP address match up with the hostname of the device correctly?
There is a log file in the %temp% folder, BoiseNetWiz.txt, that contains information that can help determine why the device is not being found.

Yes, have tried every option you suggest. Have disabled the Windows Firewall service. There are no other hidden prompts, I've looked just as you suggested. Of course I can ping it, I can print to it (after manually installing the printer drivers, read my and others' posts).

So there doesn't appear to be any errors in the attempt to locate the device, it's unsuccessful in doing so, however. The reason I asked about running ping -a <ipaddress> was not to determine if the PC could communicate with the printer, but to verify if the hostname assigned to the device was correct for the IP address. I have seen instances where an IP address will change and the previous hostname matched with that IP address is still mapped to it instead of the current device's hostname using that IP address. I'm not sure if it's a DNS refresh issue or what, but I've seen discovery failures because of it before. Something else that can occur, is that the device can sometimes go into sleep mode and not respond to queries for it's model info, etc. used to filter to only supported devices in the install. A ping will determine if the address is reachable, but not if the device can actually be communicated with.
It can be helpful to powercycle the device and then try running the install to discover it. You can also see if you can enter the ip address in a web browser and bring up the embedded web server(EWS). On the EWS, there is a networking tab where you can verify network settings. If you can access the device via the EWS, then the discovery mechanism in the installer should be able to discover the device as well as long as no firewalls are blocking it.
