I have a 64 bit windows seven desktop computer that I am trying to install the 64 bit full driver package, OJJ6400_full_13. I have tried both usb and wireless installs. Both installs fail when the driver is unable to detect the printer. Annoyingly I have a 64 bit win 7 laptop with the drivers fully installed and functioning, but i leave that at school. So this should work...
During wireless install the driver program does not detect the printer on my wireless network. The printer config. page indicates that the printer is on the network and properly configured. I am able to type in the IP address for the printer in the advanced area of the install, and the printer is detected, but the install still fails to detect the printer and install the software.
I have deleeted the driver package and used the scrubber between trying usb and wireless methods of intall. I have turned of Windows automatic driver install through gpedit.msc. I thought windows and HP drivers were conflicting but it didnt help.
I need the multiple page scanning ability, not just the webscan option through the printers IP webpage. Even if it means using the USB.
I ran the Network diagnostic utility. It found the wireless printer and it prompted me to install some updates. After they installed and the computer rebooted, the utility was not able to find the print software., "Software Missing". Since the software is installed I tried to run the 'Add a Device' icon on my desktop and the same thing happens: cannot find printer unless i put the IP address in manually, then the printer setup seems to hang.
Actually thats 2 different things. sometimes the software hangs at 50% and others times, after 'detecting printer' it says it cannot connect and fails...
following the advice on http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c02729186&tmp_task=solveCategory&cc=ca&dlc=en&l.
Win 7, Solution One: I cannot get past step 2, number 2 'The Wizard checks to see if the printer software (driver) is installed.' The wizard informs me that the software is not installed. But it has applied updates to it, as above... Running the software again prompts me to 'add a device.'
Win 7, Solution Two: The computer can communicate with the printer. Basic function has been used and the IP address web scanning thing has been used, but I uninstalled the printer from the View Devices area because there might be conflict. After all the instructions the install still fails.
Both the wireless utility and the print utility seem to think that the software is not installed on my computer. The software is not able to connect to the printer.
Help is greatly appreciated!
Thank you

Hi whyohwhydidibuy,
Try using the scrubber built into the CD or Download.
From Original installation CD:
1. Insert CD into drive, and then cancel the installer
2. Open My Computer, and then right click on the CD drive and chose open
3. Open folder Util
4. Open folder CCC
5. If you have an HP computer run the L3uninstall.exe. If you have a non-HP computer run the L4uninstall.exe
6. When the uninstall has completed restart the computer
7. Run Disk cleanup from Accessories\ System Tools
8. Download and install the latest version of Adobe flash player
http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html
9. Download the full feature software and drivers
10. Run the download to reinstall the printer
If software was downloaded and extracted to your system:
1. Type %temp% in the run field
2. Look for, and open the folder starting with 7z (Example: 7zS2356)
3. Open folder Util
4. Open folder CCC
5. If you have an HP computer run the L3uninstall.exe. If you have a non-HP computer run the L4uninstall.exe
6. When the uninstall has completed restart the computer
7. Run Disk cleanup from Accessories\ System Tools
8. Download and install the latest version of Adobe flash player
http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html
9. Download the full feature software and drivers
10. Run the download to reinstall the printer

The driver software was downloaded from the hp website, so I tried option 2. The uninstall file was Uninstall_L4.bat since the comp i want the driver software to work on is not HP. Got the newest release of flash and tried again. Still the software cannot find the wireless printer itself and when i input the ip manually the next installation page pauses at 50% and fails.
Thanks for your input.

Still, both wireless and USB fail.
Wireless sits at 50% and then fails
USB gets to step 7/8 and fails.
There are two install windows one 'Main' which cannot be moved. the windows ;ding; sound is played when clicked. The second window witht the wireless or usb connectivity picture can be moved and no error message is seen.
Windows then tells me that the device driversoftware was not successfully installed.

Hi whyohwhydidibuy,
Install the printer on a different computer, and let me know if you have the same issues?

Hi whyohwhydidibuy,
Let me know if you are able to get the printer installed on your roomates computer. It sounds like you may have some issues on your computer which is contributing to the install failure. Have you considered backing up your data, and run a full system recovery on this computer?

My roomates toshiba did not accept the full featured software. The results were similar to the problems I encountered: the printer is not detected.
