When trying to connect my wireless version Officejet 6000 to the wireless network it fails. Following the instructions through to end and restarting, the printer does not connect. I have uninstalled, re-installed, and still does not connect. I have used the uninstall *.bat files, restarted, re-installed,and still unable to connect to wireless. The wireless router is a Linksys WRT150N, the HP laptop has Vista Home. The SSID is broadcast, the security is WEP, and no MAC filtering is used. The system is protected by McAfee Security Suite. I have tried turning off the firewall during installation. After 6 hours, multiple uninstalls, restarts, and re-installs, I was only able to get the USB and direct Ethernet methods to work. I have searched forums and did not see this type of problem. I downloaded the complete install software from HP and tried it also, same results.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
JStevenT

I sent the first E609n back had the same problem. Just got the second one and having the same problem as you. 6 chats with New Deli support and one phone call to ND support they are sending me a new driver disk. Seams to hang on file HPZnui40.exe file using 50% of cpu (task mgr) which is a HP user interface install file. HP DV5z laptop and win7 home premium. Ethernet and USB print fine but can't find the printer on the network wirelessly.

I found that I was in a high density WI-FI location - over 20 wireless access points nearby. Many were without security and I might have been trying to connect to someone else's router. The use of default SSID and passwords can cause confusion. To solve my problem, I used the wired connection, accessed the printer via its IP address and verified all settings, etc.
When I used this method, I was able to install wired, wireless, and USB.
Hope this helps. Since then, the e609N has worked as designed.

do you mean hook up printer via Ethernet cable directly to router then try to configure printer for wireless?

also I am getting a HPSETUP signal from the e609n that shows up on available networks . Is that preventing it from joining my infrastructure network ? If so how do you switch the printer to send the proper signal to the router?

I set up this e609N for a client. I do not have it available for checking or duplicating what you are saying. When I installed it wired - ethernet cable to router from printer it worked. Then I accessed the printer via its IP address - http://192.168.1.1 or whatever your network assigned to the printer on your network. Then I could see the settings or verify them with the printout. I don't have the instructions before me and it has been awhile.
