Officejet 6500A Plus - how to remove ink drying delay?

I have recently replaced a Photosmart 3210 duplex with the above. I normally print in 'fast draft' mode and I use the 6500 over a wireless connection, which installs as an E710n-z driver.

On fast draft the 3210 had no 'ink drying' delay so operated at full speed. However, even on fast draft the 6500A still insists on delaying for about 10 seconds before printing on the reverse of each page.

This is very annoying and means that my purchase has effectively been a downgrade!

I could swith to simplex, but this will obviously waste paper.

I did see a discussion on this via a google search which showed a 6500: E709a advanced setting menu that allowed the drying time to be removed, but I have no such menu in my driver settings.

Any ideas? Can I configure the 710 with a 709 driver to enable this menu? Can HP enhance the driver to enable this config setting?

Did you end up getting a fix for this? I have a huge document to print duplex (300 pages) and really dont want to come back to it tomorrow.

Hello bford85

Unfortunately there is no way to disable the ink drying delay. It is there to ensure print quality and printer health.

Don't forgot to say thanks by giving "Kudos" to those that help solve your problems.
