Officejet Pro 8500 (A909g) - Outgoing email profile setup.

Hi, I've just purchased one of the above, and I'm very happy with it.

All seems to have gone well, but my only question is about the 'scan to email' setup.  Although I can set this so it works fine, I have not worked out how to have more than one outgoing email profile setup.  Is this possible at all?

Ideally, I would like each employee to be able to use 'scan to email' by selecting their own profile on the 8500 and have the scan/email originate from thier own email address rather than one 'company' account...

Thanks, and I look forward to any help with this,

Groover.

Re: Officejet Pro 8500 (A909g) - Outgoing email profile setup.

I don't think this is possible. The printer allows only 1 email account to use for scanning and faxing purposes.

Though, this is a pretty good idea, and might be worthy of implementation in future models. But I'm not sure how many people would actually find this useful.

Thanks for the quick reply DexterM.

I was hoping this wasn't the case and I was missing something obvious, alas no.

Is this something that could be implemented via software (driver) on the A909g at a later date, or isn't the hardware up to it do you know?

Don't think if a software update will help. A Firmware update might add the feature, but it depends on the demand for such a feature. In my opinion, it's unlikely that such a feature will be added to this printer.

Re: Officejet Pro 8500 (A909g) - Outgoing email profile setup.

Actually, you can have multiple outgoing email accounts setup for the Officejet Pro 8500.  For example, I have three profiles setup on my prototype 8500.

To set this up, open the printer's internal web page and select Scan to Email Setup and then Outgoing Email Profile Setup.

Re: Officejet Pro 8500 (A909g) - Outgoing email profile setup.

Hi Wi-Fi-Guy,

Strangeley, this is exactly how I tried adding the extra profiles.

Every time I  select the 'Add Outgoing E-mail Profile' button and then fill in the appropriate details, these then overwrite the existing profile leaving only one to use.

Any pointers?

Thanks,

G.

I'm wondering if my prototype Officejet Pro 8500 is running different firmware.  Here's a screen shot showing my setup with three different email profiles:

Does this look like your page from the printer's internal web page?

Hi again,

Thanks for the reply.

The page itself does look identical to that, but when I click on the green 'Add outgoing e-mail profile' button, enter a new profile and then click on the 'test and save' button, it overwrites the existing profile instead of adding a new one.

Any ideas what might cause this?

Thanks,

G.

What browser are you using (IE 8, Firefox, Chorme, etc)?  Can you try a different one?
