Hiya
I just got an HP Officejet 8500 Pro (A909g) Wireless which is proving a bit troublesome.
One of the many problems I have is that it does not power down when I press the power button. The screen displays Shutting down but then just sits there until I eventually have to pull the plug.
I tried a semi-full reset reset using the * # menu but even that didn't cure it.
Any suggestions apart from returning it?
Cheers,
Steve

Just replying to myself. Tech support helped me troubleshoot this and it turns out the printer is defective and needs replacing. Replacement unit arrives this week.

I am having the exact same problem you are. I am not a computer guy so pardon my lingo!! I am on my third all in one in under three weeks. When it goes into power save mode and stays there for a little while, the only way to get it out of sleep mode is to unplug it! Power button won't even solve the problem. Like i said 3rd one in under 2 weeks.

Hi Quaid,
Just for us to understand your issue better. For the printer model OJ 8500 you have, does your model have Wireless? If it does, did you configure your printer wifi? If not configure, is your Wifi set to ON? If you are not using your Wifi, you may want to Turn it OFF, this may help with the situation.
Although I am an HP employee, I am speaking for myself and not for HP.
