I have a HP Officejet Pro 8500 wireless all-in-one printer and the printerhead has an error message 'The following printhead has a problem: magenta/cyan(M/C)'
I need to scan a document (which does not involve printing) however it does not allow me any access to the uder menus. Can this be overridden to allow use of the scanner?
I have a replacement printhead on order however did not realise that the whole printer would become inactive?
Can anyone help with this?

i have the same problem. My printer is about a year old. i purchased a printhead and i still get the same message even after i replaced it. HP is horrible i asked them to send me a replacement printhead since its still under waranty and they said its not under warranty when in fact it shows its under warranty until april 2014. They denied its their warranty they said its the retailers warranty when its imprinted on their product. Then the supervisor agreed its their warranty but will not give me a replacement since it will not guarantee it will work. Their suggestion is buy a new printer and they said their is no fix for it. It will work or a couple weeks then go out again. No refunds or exchanges on the printhead. I have another HP the new model of these one for only 4 months and im getting the same issue. its a terrible product to purchase.
