Hi,
I have a PSC 1610 All-In-One printer connected to a pc running XP that I have tried to setup several times to get the scan buttons on the top panel to work. I have run the diagnostic program and all it says. that I need to install HP software to scan, the twain software is corrupted and it can not fix it, and the buttonsare not setup. I have downloaded the full-feature driver several times and I have had it run and complete successfully one time. The other times, it would connect with the printer but, at step 7/8 it would error out. I have even tried running the software on my Gateway Notebook running XP and have had the same results. I have also tried installing the patch for the communication errors because I was getting some internal communication error within the HP Solutions box. It said the installation was successful, but I am still received the communication error when I ran the HP Solution software again. Any suggesstions? Apparently, the other drivers on either machine for printing work as I do not have any issues with printing. The unit will copy just fine as well. Any suggestions?
Thanks.

Hi blewettjl,
Try using the scrubber built into the CD or Download.
From Original installation CD:
1. Insert CD into drive, and then cancel the installer
2. Open My Computer, and then right click on the CD drive and chose open
3. Open folder Util
4. Open folder CCC
5. If you have an HP computer run the L3uninstall.exe. If you have a non-HP computer run the L4uninstall.exe
6. When the uninstall has completed restart the computer
7. Run Disk cleanup from Accessories\ System Tools
8. Download and install the latest version of Adobe flash player
http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads
9. Download the full feature software and drivers
10. Run the download to reinstall the printer
If software was downloaded and extracted to your system:
1. Type %temp% in the run field
2. Look for, and open the folder starting with 7z (Example: 7zS2356)
3. Open folder Util
4. Open folder CCC
5. If you have an HP computer run the L3uninstall.exe. If you have a non-HP computer run the L4uninstall.exe
6. When the uninstall has completed restart the computer
7. Run Disk cleanup from Accessories\ System Tools
8. Download and install the latest version of Adobe flash player
http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads
9. Download the full feature software and drivers
10. Run the download to reinstall the printer

Finally had an opportunity to work on this problem as I work in education and we are finally out for the summer! ![]()
Yes, this solution did work. It took me about 48 hours to get it to work. I was able to get my laptop to install all of the features as described on the first try. However, on my desktop that was totally a different situation. I bet I ran the install program 15-20 times trying to get it to work. It would not finish the "connect to the device" step 8/8. Apparently, when my father-in-law had this computer, he established some limits on the virtual memory. Once I changed the setting to "system manage size" everything started to work. Now, my printer works and it seems this pc is going faster too. So...two problems fixed at the same time. Not bad if I say so myself. Thanks for your help.
