Photosmart 7960 will not connect [ Edited ]

I've download new drives & updates, plugged in all the cords, printed a calibration page but I can't print from my computer. I've run HP diagnostic tool & get printer is not connected message. I've switch USB ports & cables but still can't connect. My OS in Windows Vista 32 bit.

Hey there,

Does the printer show on your taskbar in the bottom-right corner of your desktop?

Have you tried to see if the printer will work on a different machine? Also are you using a USB hub or a USB port on your computer case? If so try plugging the printer into the back of the computer directly in the motherboard.

I followed Daniel_L's advice on using the Diagnosyic utility. It helped solve the connection issue. Thank you for your advice. HP has always been good to me. Ted

This printer has been used and works with my IMAC, until I unplugged both the IMAC and printer and moved them to a new location.

;Now, with the USB cord connected, computer on, and paper in the tray, when I send a print job to the printer it will not print and gives the error message "printer offline".  How do I fix this?
