Photosmart Plus B210 will not print from Photo Tray - Vista and 7 - USB and Wireless

Experts!  Please help!  HP phone support could not find a solution.

I purchased a new Photosmart Plus B210 last month.  I am a moderately advanced computer user, and have not been able to print a photo from this printer, EXCEPT when printing directly from a memory card inserted into the machine.

I have installed the printer on both two laptops, one running Vista, the other running Windows 7.

The problem persists whether printing wirelessly or by USB.

The printer works perfectly other than this major problem.

Thank you in advance for your help.  If I can't make this work, I will have to return this printer, and will likely purchase a different brand.

Re: Photosmart Plus B210 will not print from Photo Tray - Vista and 7 - USB and Wireless

Hi,

Could you explain the issue in brief like what happens when you try to print a photo does the printer show any error or does it pick paper and does not print on that.

Although I am an HP employee, I am speaking for myself and not for HP.

Re: Photosmart Plus B210 will not print from Photo Tray - Vista and 7 - USB and Wireless

No, it does not engage the photo tray at all.  If I try to print a photo, it will, by default I suppose--thought this model is advertised as auto detecting of the proper tray--print the photo from the main tray.

If I manually choose the photo tray, it still prints from the main tray.

If I set the photo tray as the primary tray from the printer's control panel, it still prints from the main tray.

It only prints to the photo tray when printing directly from a memory card.

Hi.

Under Printers, please right click on the printer and select properties.

under device settings tab, make sure that the "photo tray" option isn't diabled, and set to the propper paper size.

The same For windows 7, just under Printer Properties.

Please post back and let us know if it helps :smileyhappy:

Re: Photosmart Plus B210 will not print from Photo Tray - Vista and 7 - USB and Wireless

DevRao,

I really appreciate your time, but I have already tried all the setting and solutions available from the HP site, and phone support.

I am hoping one of the "experts" online today will be able to solve this for me.

If you have more suggestions, that are not already available on this site, then please do let me know.

Thank you!

[ Edited ]

ShlomiL,

Thank you for your reply.

In both Vista and 7, the photo tray is listed as "Not Available."  I can select a photo size from the drop down list anyway, but it still won't print to the tray.

(Edit: Actually, in 7, in the "Paper Source" menu, there is a little warning triange over next to "Photo Tray".)

Hi again :smileyhappy:

Please make sure that the program you are printing from is closed. than enable the photo tray to the required paper size as i mentioned, and approve the properties dialog.

now relaunch the program and send the print, and see if there is any difference.

Re: Photosmart Plus B210 will not print from Photo Tray - Vista and 7 - USB and Wireless

In Windows 7, I cannot choose a photo paper size, as it wil not allow me to choose the Photo Tray at all.

In Vista, after the relaunch, I receive an error in the print dialog box: "Error - Sent to printer."  I clicked print again, and this time the job got stuck on "Spooling."

Re: Photosmart Plus B210 will not print from Photo Tray - Vista and 7 - USB and Wireless

First, in vista - please turn the printer off, restart your pc, and than clean the Print queue, and turn the printer on again.

Now, please make sure that you select the exect paper size for the tray, than the same for the paper type and size while printing.. now see if there is any difference.

Regarding win7 - what do you see exectly? is the option grayed out? can you see maybe some other options to select related to it?
