Printing name tags

I'm trying to print name tags (Avery), but the printer keeps telling me I have the wrong size paper in the tray.  I'm working from Word, selected the appropriate template and even changed the page size to 4.5x11, but it will not print.

    can you please provide the printer model # or name, and perhaps the version of the printer software that is installed, if possible?

OfficeJet Pro 8600.  Word 2007.  I called Avery (using product #74652), but they said to call HP.  I've downloaded templates from Avery and even tried to print from the template online.  I get the same response.
