Wauw, buy a HP photosmart 5510 and you are busy for the whole Christmas to print wireless??
Unpack your photosmart 5510 and install ??
Well it prints 1 page and then you get the message Printer not ready if you want to print your next page.
1st day, let try with my own knowledge.
Check for updates
Reset router.
Work with Fix IP put in the printer.
Change the IP by through the webinterface.
Change router settings
Try to reinstall the software what is even not possible anymore all do the Manuel say that it is.
Still 1 print and then nothing. Reset the printer or change the IP in the printer fix the job, Again 1 print or scan or 1 airprint but then nothing.
(printed about 35 pages of BS as test)
Day no. 2, new day new rounds
Looking around in the forum Thank god i am not the only one who has this problem.
Lot of people same problem, some fight for 6 months, contact the support without any success.
Damm Scanning i even did not go to that part and look at all the users with problems. Let me first print please.
Here and there it looks like solved tips and try to do the same. No results at all.
Still day no 2 but i get now .........
Come on guys read all, it looks like you are lucky when it works. You must be programmer to get it works.
My main question is ;
- Does or did Steve Job know this ?? This product is in his Apple Store, HP is using the logo of Apple.
- Does HP sell there products cheap now and get money back of all test printing and use cartridges ??
- Is there any hope or solution to let this work smooth with what the box and the commercials say ?
- I just forget one small step and somebody give me the solution ??
- To much wine in this Christmas days ?
Hope somebody can help me, and get this Photosmart 5510 working (printing, scanning and airprinting it say on the box)

Hi,
Did you downloaded and install the software intended for Lion available at hp.com?
As the original CD is not intended for Lion.
If not, completely remove any installed software:
**Please be aware that performing the next steps will remove any installed HP Software.
1. Click on Go menu (Click the desktop, then look at the menu in the bar at the top of the page)
2. Select Applications
3. Select the Hewlett-Packard folder
4. Double-click HP Uninstaller application
5. Follow the uninstallation till prompted to select a device to uninstall
6. Press and hold Control + Alt + Cmd keys on the keyboard simultaneously while you click on Uninstall
7. approve any prompt to uninstall any HP Software.
Reset the printing system:
*Be aware that resetting the printer system will remove any existing print queue and reset any customized driver settings.
Click the Apple menu, and then click System Preferences .
Select Print & Scan.
Right-click (or Ctrl + click) your product in the Printers list in the left panel, and then click Reset printing system .
Click OK to confirm the reset.
Type your user Name and Password .
Click OK . The printing system resets.
Then download and install the software below:
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/COL39428/
Once done, install the latest HP Update.
If there is still no change, in order to deny any router mDNS issue, try adding the printer by IP:
Enter System Preferences > Print and Scan.
Click the Plus sign
click the IP icon
Select the HP Jetdirect Socket protocol and provide the printer IP address.
If you are aple to print with no issues while using the method above, please clarify your router model, brand and firmware version (if known)
If my post resolved your problem, please mark it as as Accepted Solution

HI ShlomiL,
Thanks for the respons, most of the parts that you mention are done before. (proberbly from one of your other post
)
(it was a direct installation with the link you give me, i did not use the disk that was with the printer, and after that i update the 10.7.2 software, because there was a new version for HP printers) I dont think in this version 10.7.2 excist any HP Uninstaller, so i have no idea how to remove it if needed.
Printing by IP adres works perfect and i was in that part of solution before i made the post. So with this no problem to print at all. All works fine printing from the MAC with this connect to IP solution.
But there is no airport printing, no scanning when i connect by IP, i supose and that is the whole idea of the christmas present
So last part left is the router.
The router who is connected to the printer is a :
150M Wireless Lite N Router Model No. TL-WR741N / TL-WR741ND
Firmware Version:
Hardware Version:
I hope you can help me out ![]()
You have something like teamviewer ??
Thanks
Marcel

Hi Marcel,
Any Apple device use Bonjour, Apple's Zero configuration networking protocol which relies on IP / DNS multicasting.
By reviewing both your router administration consule and the user guide, i cannot locate any indecation that IP Multicasting is supported by the router.
In order to be sure, let's try to temporary set an ad hoc connection (a direct connection between your Mac and the printer) and i believe you will see that any of the function works as expected:
It will require you to temporarly disconnect the Mac from the network, once done - reconnect to your router cy clicking the Wi-Fi icon and then reconnect to your home network.
- From the Mac: Click the Wi-Fi icon, then click Create Network.
- Take a note of the Nework Name, leave the channel as is and click OK.
- From the printer: click the right arrow, then click the Wireless icon.
- Click Wireless Setup Wizard and connect to the Mac network name.
Allow 3 minutes to fully establish the network connection.
From the Mac, Enter Applications > Hewlett-Packard > Device Utilities and follow the HP Setup Assistant to reconfigure the pritner over the ad hoc network.
Try printing and scanning and verify any of the functions are operate as expected.
If anything is fully functional by the ad hoc connection, it means the router is the cause for all the problems you can see.
At this point, i would recommend you to contact TP-Link support and check is IP Multicasting is supported and how to enable it.
Hopefully i'm worng and the function do available by any differnt name, otherwise the router is not compatible with Macintosh envoirnment.
Please let me know of any difference while using the Ad Hoc connection.
Regards,
Shlomi

Hi ShiomiL,
Maybe i did not explain all correct, but the printing by Bonjour works, but like normal printing from my Mac. Only one time and get the message printer is not online anymore.
I am downloading the latest Firmware of the router
I let you know later the results
Thanks for you quick response.
Marcel

Hi Marcel,
It was perfectly clear, therefore i suggested you to perform the steps above and verify my suspicions.
mDNS is kind of UDP improvement... when mDNS is not possible, more likely the connectivity will establish first, however will not remain stable.. most of the case when mDNS is not supported the connection will establish for very limited time after restarting the router or the connection.

Hi ShiomiL,
I have tried to make a temporary adhoc connection, but it does not work. The HP photosmart does not see this network. (i check on other pc/ipads/iphones and this network appears, but not on the printer)
* restart the MAC
* restart the printer
(printer is next to the iMAC)
But no direct connection to the MAC
Any suggestion ?

Sorry for that,
From the pritner, enter the Wireless Settings and Restore the Network Defaults.
Verify the Wireless Radio set as On.
From the Mac, click the Wi-Fi icon, then click Join Other Network.
Click Show Network
Then select the printer SSID name, listed as HP-Setup****Photosmart 5510
Allow 3 minuted to fully establish the connection and then follow the HP Setup Assistant.

Hi
I tried this morning (new start new round) again the Ad Hoc test but no results. The Imac dont show up on the HP 5510 Photosmart.
I picked up my laptop from my office what runs on Mac OS X version 10.6.8 and did the same but no results on the HP. I do see the laptop on my Imac by the way.
But unfortunately not on the HP printer. I reset it factory just to try and nothing.
Could there be something wrong with the printer ?? or do you have more suggestions, to test. I dont give up that fast and use a lot of HP printers in my office so i believe in the product(s) and even sold HP in the past ![]()
But would be great to get this home printer/scanner working.
Marcel

Hi,
Did not see this reply this morning. Did this and all works fine. Did some prints, wait 30 minutes print again and works.
Scanning is also working fine.
So it looks like the Wireless Lite N Router give me the hard time ??
Let me explain the setup here ;
We have a Cisco router that is connected to the ADSL, this is somewhere else in the house. This one is configured to do all the DHCP (http://192.168.1.1)
Then this one is connected to router in the livingroom by cable.
In the livingroom there is a wireless router to cover this erea. (http://192.168.1.2)
From this router in the livingroom there is a connection by http://sitecom.com/homeplug-500-mbps/p/854 to wireless router in the basement. (the 150M Wireless Lite N Router Model No. TL-WR741N / TL-WR741N) (192.168.1.3)
Now the question is, is the 15M wireless Lite the one who give the problem or the one who is configed to do all the DHCP the cisco one?
I wonder why i see sometimes the one shot airprinting of Mr. Apple??
Now to make some conclucions and get to the final solution ;
* get a new router for the basement, if yes could you suggest me one that would work with airprint of apple and works with the HP 5510 ?
* printing connect by IP ¿ That works fine but i have feeling that scanning is not availible in this configurration or am I wrong. (webscanning works but looks little complex for my childeren and wife)
Marcel
ps. You will get all my stars i can give. Even when not solved i just want to say Many thanks for your help until now. Is just great to know that sometimes you are not allone.
