Hi Marcel,
With pleasure!
I really hope we can sort this up..
Let's verify the exact network structure in order to better understand what cause the problem..
As any of the network component can affect.
I will sort what i understood, please correct me if I'm missing anything as there are some other terms to consider which i was not aware before. I would like to fully understand any possible affecting term as your network is more complex then i thought .
1. The Cisco router manage any DHCP and internet connectivity - please clarify the router model.
2. In your living area there is a router - please clarify the model as well
3.From the living room, the Homeplug 500 Mbps LN-507 expand the network to the basement.
4. In the basement, there is the TL-WR741N router
Am i right so far?
5. The printer connected to the TL-WR741N at the basement.
6. Is the Mac connected to the same TL-WR741N?
7. Could you notice any change with the iPhone while connected to any specific access point?
I will wait to know your feedback first in order to fully understand as it may require some testing in order to isolate the problem...

Hi Shlomi,
I made a little drawing of the network situation so mabye it make more clear.
No1 Room 1 is a Wireless-N Broadband RouterWRT160Nv3
No 2 Room 2 is a wrt54gl Lynksys (Firmware: DD-WRT v24-sp2 (10/10/09) min)
No 3 Room 3 is a TL-WR741N
No 1 Does the DHCP and internet connectivity (ip 192.168.1.1)
DHCP starting from 192.168.1.110 with max 50 IP
No 2 http://192.168.1.2/ fixed ip
No 3 http://192.168.1.3/ fixed ip
The hub no 3 i is a Aqprox APPSW5 5 port 10/100M desktop Switch.
The homplug 500 Mbps goes from wireless Room 1 to the Hub room 3
In the basement (wireless no 3) are the Imac and HP wireless connected.
If you need any other information let me know.
Marcel
ps. doing printing on HP and scanning with web scanning now, so using the printer but i think not the way as it could work.

Hi Marcel.
Thanks for the chart, Now it is a lot more clear indeed.
By reviewing the different router brands, it seems to me as both of the Linksys routers should handle Multicasting with no issues.
I would like to start by verifying the settings and connecting the printer into the WRT160Nv3 router, in order to isolate and check where the connectivity is broken..
While following the steps below, I would suggest you to try printing from the iPhone, wait for 10-15 minutes and try to print once again to verify the connectivity remain active.
- Temporary place the printer in Room 1, connect the printer to the WRT160 router... then we will get a better idea where the link get broken.
- Enter the WRT160Nv3 administrator, enter the Security tab, make sure both Filter Multicast and Filter Internet NAT Redirection are checked, save the settings and reboot the router:
http://ui.linksys.com/files/WRT160N/v3/3.0.00/Firewall.htm - Connect your iPhone to the No1 router as well and try printing by Airprint.
- Now connect the iPhone to Router2 (wrt54gl) and try printing by Airprint
By viewing the DD-WRT configuration which i am not familiar with, it seems to me as Multicasting should be enabled by default, although it is a bit confusing..
If you see any issue printing from Router 2, try checking the Filter Multicast and Filter Internet NAT Redirection, Save the changes, reboot and check for any change:
http://www.informatione.gmxhome.de/DDWRT/Standard/V23final/Firewall.html - Now connect your iPhone to the 3rd router (TL-WR741N) and try printing by Airprint.
Please let me know if the connection seems to get broken at the TP Link router as i suspect or within any other step?
If indeed it get broken there... beside replacing the router i would suggest you to contact TP-Link and verify for any available Multicasting configuration.. It can always be that the term is simply named too different ![]()
As a last resort, you may always check for any 3rd party firmware as DD-WRT which may add multicasting feature to the router.. there is no much to lose at this point...

Hi ShiomiL,
Tried last months a lot of time to get the HP working as it must work (specially the airprinting and scanning) without any succes. We used it with IP printing/scanning, what was not a problem but did not give us the full posibility of the HP printer.
Today i bought a airport Extreme from apple, connect and few seconds later all works perfect ![]()
So at the end it was the TL-WR741N (this one replaced by the apple airport) that give the problems.
Just wanted to let you know, and say thanks for the support you give.
