Receive Error message when trying to install driver software, Office jet Pro L7680 all in on

i have a hp officejet pro l7680 all in one.  we had issues with it printing so my husband deleted the drivers and was going to reinstall the drivers that he downloaded from the HP website.  We get a Fatal  Error message of" MSI.MSI_BPD_Scan" when we try to install it.  We have Windows XP.

Please advise.

Which download package did you get, the full or basic? Did you uninstall the previous software or just deleted the print driver from the Printers folder?

There should be a log file in %Temp%\???bpd_scan.log
that may give us more details. Can you paste the info here?

Sorry, you select the start button and in the run command or in the search you can enter %temp%. That is a shortcut to your temporary folder. It should be in the with the name something like ???bpd_scan.log

Just enter %temp% in the search. It will open an explorer window to the Temp folder and then you can look through the files. The file name with the ??? means I'm not sure what the first 3 letters are. They are probably either hpz, hpq, or something else starting with hp.

This is what I found in the TEMP location:
hpjsilg2
hponac01
hponiprint01
hponis000
hponiscan01

Any of that what you are looking for?

There should be a file setup0000.log that will contain the information on the installation. Can you zip it and attach it here? Same location as the other log files you listed.
