I am trying to install any driver set for my Photosmart Premium 309g-m printer on a Windows 7 Ultimate upgrade from a fully patched Vista system that never had the printer installed on it.. I have downloaded both of the Photosmart basic drivers - 2010-03-29 , Version:14.1.0, and Photosmart Full Feature Software and Drivers - 2010-03-24 , Version:14.1.0 and have tried multiple installs of each. I have used administrative IDs and standard user IDs and get the same result .
After the software unpacks into the temporary folder in users/user/appdata/local/temp, the install begins and during the initial 'checking system' phase get an error message -
'The system could not find the specified file'
and the path in the error bar is - "C:Users\user\AppData\Local\Temp\7zS2E41\Setup..\S
I am getting very frustrated because I cannot get past this error.
If I can provide any other information just let me know what you might need.

I have the same problem during the same instalation under Windows 7:
'The system could not find the specified file'
and the path in the error bar is - "C:Users\user\AppData\Local\Temp\7zS2C44\Setup..\S
I need to install the HP Solution Center, otherwise there is no option to scan to PDF.
Is there a solution of this problem?

Hello Aspirin1960
Try the following procedure it should uninstall and remove any interfering software. Let me know if anything changes.
From Original installation CD:
1. Insert CD into drive, and then cancel the installer
2. Open My Computer, and then right click on the CD drive and chose open
3. Open folder Util
4. Open folder CCC
5. If you have an HP computer run the L3uninstall.exe. If you have a non-HP computer run the L4uninstall.exe
6. When the uninstall has completed restart the computer
7. Run Disk cleanup from Accessories\ System Tools
8. Download and install the latest version of Adobe flash player
http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
9. Download the full feature software and drivers
10. Go back to the temp folder and delete all folders that start with 7z
11. Run the download to reinstall the printer
If software was downloaded and extracted to your system:
1. Type %temp% in the run field
2. Look for, and open the folder starting with 7z (Example: 7zS2356)
3. Open folder Util
4. Open folder CCC
5. If you have an HP computer run the L3uninstall.exe. If you have a non-HP computer run the L4uninstall.exe
6. When the uninstall has completed restart the computer
7. Run Disk cleanup from Accessories\ System Tools
8. Download and install the latest version of Adobe flash player

10. Go back to the temp folder and delete all folders that start with 7z
11. Run the download to reinstall the printer

Hello,
I repeated twice the installation acc. the instructions, but the same message about - hpzpnp01.exe appeared again.
My problem is that without the full HP solution center installed, there is no option to scan documents in a PDF format.
(Only the jpeg , tiff, png and bnp picture formats are available)
Another problem is, that the default setting about the the paper size is "Letter" and the only option to change it to A4 is to create a new printing profile. The default printing shortcuts are based on "Letter" and could not be used and this can not be corrected even after the "Apply" and "OK" steps in the printer menu.

Lets try something a bit different go to the temp folder again and locate the 7z folder with the extracted software. Rename the folder to "7zS2C44" and try running the setup. Let me know if anything changes. By renaming the folder it should finally be able to locate what it was looking for.

Hello Travis_C,
the problem was resolved with the following steps:
1. Based on your email dated 05-25-2012, I removed all the HP software from the laptop using L4uninstall.exe.
2. The USB cable to the Photosmart C309g was disconnected and the Internet switched off.
3. I started the new installation based only on the HP CD ROM from 2009 related to Photosmart Premium C309g.
4. The USB cable was connected acc. the on screen instructions.
5. In this way Windows 7 did not installed automatically any drivers.
6. Now the printer is working in a perfect manner and I can choose between many scanning formats incl. PDF.
