Solution Center / Centre displays no text

On my Windows XP Pro desktop, the Solution Centre software opens fine but there is no text and it can't be used to run any functions against my C8180 printer. The software works fine on the other computers on my network (A Vista Home and XP Pro laptops). I assume it must be a conflict somewhere but I've no idea what. The HP Support team just kept asking me to install more and more ever more irrelevant software updates, to no avail and wouldn't pass the query to the technical support teams. It's the latest version of the Solution Centre software. Any ideas?

Re: Solution Center / Centre displays no text

Hi.  Did you ever find an answer to this?  I think I'm having the same problem.  I'm running XP and did at one point have the solution centre running fine.  However since a recent uninstall and reinstall it now only displays the background of the app with no text.  Very annoying.  Have tried uninstalling and reinstalling a few times to no avail.

I'm afraid not. Bought a new computer instead!! If you want to list a few of the software items you have running, maybe I will spot some similarities with my old build.

Re: Solution Center / Centre displays no text

Something you could try is opening the run dialog and typing "hppscan2" on most hp products this is the base program behind hp director and solution center generally if it was installed properly you should get a small dialog box with the ? of where do you want to send the data/scan to and have a drop down underneath it. if this works you can use it as a work around other wise you may wish to unistall and reinstall the software. Again this will work on many products but possibly not all. Good Luck

Re: Solution Center / Centre displays no text

The samething happened to me.  I had tried to update the software from v11 which was working well, to v12 which lead to this problem.  I've contacted customer support by email and have uninstalled and reinstalled 8-10 times trying different things.  Even my previous v11 now has this problem when it's installed.  Today, customer service is suggesting I reload Windows Script Engine, MSXML 4.0, .NET Framework, Java Virtual Machine, Microsoft Data Access Components, and Windows Installer 4.5.  I feel like they are just throwing things at me to keep me occupied.

My printer prints well, but the HP Solution Center adds a lot of value.  Has anyone found a solution?

Re: Solution Center / Centre displays no text

I would suggest you at least install MSXML 4.0, .NET Framework, Java Virtual Machine and Windows Installer 4.5 as they are quite essential for the Solution Center to work. If that doesn't help, then i suggest you try doing a System Restore on your PC to a date it was working properly.

Re: Solution Center / Centre displays no text

Hooray it is fixed!  I got a response from HP support with a few actions and found the last to work.  And so simple too:

1.  Insert the All-In-One CD-ROM into the computer. Cancel any installation windows that appear.
2.  Click Start and then click Run.
3.  Type the following command without quotes and press Enter key:

    "X:\Setup\SolutionCenter"

(Replace X: with the CD-ROM drive letter)

4.  Right-click on  the "SolutionCenter.msi" file and click on Install.
5.  Right-click on  the "SolutionCenter.msi" file and click on Repair.

I can send the full list if anybody is still having a problem.

Thanks for everyones help

Re: Solution Center / Centre displays no text

Aah... the good old MSI file repairing trick did it for you. Congratulations. I hope it helps resolve the original posters' issue, and hope he marks your post as the solution.

Re: Solution Center / Centre displays no text

After two days of messing with it, I finally got it fixed.  I went to the Adobe Flash website and got the uninstall_flash_player.exe to remove all remnants of the player.  Then I reinstalled Flash Player from within IE.  After that, everything worked.  I downloaded another file, install_flash_player, to get the plug-in for FireFox.

Re: Solution Center / Centre displays no text

Yepp, the Flash player uninstall was the vital hint also for CLJ CM2320fxi on VISTA32.

Trying only the solution center repair brought up a message that a file couldn't be
modified due to insufficient rights:
c:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash\FlashUtil9b.exe

I often noticed in other instances that the Flash files in the above mentioned
dir are protected in some crazy way -- even when booting from a WinPE CD
they can't be deleted; without the mentioned uninstaller formatting the drive
seemes to be the only way to get rid of them.

But obviously that's more to Macromedia resp. Adobe then to HP.

Sincerely,

Therese
