Solution: Printer not being detected during setup

(Note: this solution was for a direct-install process where my printer was plugged into my computer directly by use of the USB cord and did not have anything to do with wireless functionality. If you are having this same issue and are attempting to setup your printer wirelessly, the solution listed below may or may not help though proper connectivity of any wires is certainly something that should be ruled out first before continuing on to more advanced troublshooting techniques.)

Problem: During installation process, software does not detect that my printer is powered on and plugged into my computer via USB cord. Installation will not complete. I cannot print my documents.

Culprit: Loose / faulty connection at printer side of USB cord.

Solution: Gently manipulate the USB connection where the cord plugs into the back of my printer(not at computer).

Other information: It appears as though there was a loose and/or faulty connection at the back of my printer even though the cord appeared to be plugged in correctly. When I gently pushed the plug in various directions I heard the audible chime of my computer detecting a new plug-in device. Remember to ensure that mute is not enabled to get this benefit. When troubleshooting this same issue remember to also try gently crimping the thin wire that leads to the plug as well and keep an ear open for the chime when your computer detects the new device. If you try to push the plug too forcefully it may damage the connections on your printer so take a deep breath and forget about the anger welling up inside of you for just a moment when you try this. :smileywink:
