HI
I have a network composed by a hardware firewall connected to three computers with Windows XP Pro SP3 and an HP Officejet 7410 All-in-One printer.
With this system, I was able to successfully print on all computers.
Now, I had to format a computer and I still have installed XP (no firewall/antivirus) and these drivers http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloa
setup.exe -ipAddress <Printer IP address>
Now, when this procedure terminates, on the "Printers and Faxes" windows, no icon is displayed? Why?
THANKS

Hello balubeto
I am curious is there a reason behind running the setup with that argument? Typically the setup will ask you at some point whether you want to setup on the network or USB. Have you tried this method yet? Are you running it from the command line? Do you have access to explorer?

Apparently with the printer connected to a USB port, the installation must be done normally, whereas, with the printer connected via network, the installation must be done by indicating the IP address of the printer.

So, how do I make sure that these drivers identify my network printer?

Hello balubeto
For help with installing the printer you may follow the first link below. The second link will help your printer maintain network connectivity.

In other words, I have the printer, connected to a firewall hardware via Ethernet cable, with a fixed IP (192.168.1.7) and I connected, via Ethernet, a notebook with XP Pro SP3 to this firewall.
So, from the notebook, which has no firewall/antivirus, I run, from an account of Administrators type, the "setup.exe -ipAddress 192.168.1.7 -r1" command.
After installation, I open the "Printers and Faxes" window but it has no connection to this network printer. Why?

Hello balubeto,
When you install the printer do not use the (“setup.exe -ipAddress 192.168.1.7 -r1") from the dos command. Follow the instructions from the document below.
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docnam
Download and install this software and drivers below.

The package above is the complete suite. Instead, I only wanted the corporate network drivers that allow you to print even from an account of Users type of XP.

Hello Travis,
I have a similar problem. For a couple of years now, I have had my trusty old HP 7410 connected via ethernet to my Apple Time Capsule so I could use it with all my home computers (a mix of Macs and PCs). In fact, I just last week installed the current Mac driver software on a new MacBook Pro and the printer's working just fine with it. However, all of a sudden and for no apparent reason, I cannot print properly from my Windows XP computer. It just prints garbage, whether it is a simple web page or an email document. I have tried installing the drivers you recommended, but the installation process locks up with a message that I do not have the proper USB drivers installed. It is not now nor ever was connected via USB. It has been ethernet all along. But the installation software will not give me the option to select network or USB. I even tried connecting a USB cable to see if I could re-install the drivers and then "find" the printer on my network. But I got the same error message about not having USB drivers and the installation stopped. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer.
