Trouble Installing L7590 AIO

I received a L7590 AIO as a replacement printer.  The old printer was also a 7000 series, and I had technical problems with it as well.  The 7590 will not completely install; I have uninstalled on every level, gone through tech support to no avail, and cannot under any circumstances get this printer to completely install.  I have taken Explorer out of the equation, and downloaded the drivers as well as use the disc that came with the printer.  What am I doing wrong with this installation?  I am at my wits end, and just need to have a machine that can function properly.  When I try to send faxes, there is no cover page available.  When I try to scan, it says the scanner isn't installed properly.  I cannot print envelopes without a 1" margin on the left of the return address; the problems are numerous.  I have also installed this printer on another computer without any problems, so it's internal in the computer; I just don't know what the conflict is.  I am running Windows XP Professional, no internet explorer, and I use AOL for my internet service.  If anyone can be of assistance, I would be MOST APPRECIATIVE of any help.  The tech support from HP has been fruitless, and I really need to either get it off the ground, or move on to another product.  SUGGESTIONS?

Re: Trouble Installing L7590 AIO

Christina, I know how frustrating this issue can be. HP printer driver and application software does not install well over a previous install. A good first step would be to uninstall any and all of the HP related software under the Add/Remove Programs selection of the Control Panel.  Hopefully that will satisfy the HP install program when you try to re-install the AIO software.  I would also recommend downloading and installing the most recent of the HP AIO software and drivers for your printer.
Hopefully this may help, if not maybe someone on this forum can recommed a good windows registry cleaner.

Re: Trouble Installing L7590 AIO

Thanks Mark ~  Unfortunately I had already uninstalled the old printer, but it wouldn't completely uninstall and the new printer wouldn't install.  I went through HP tech support and they walked me through the process many, many times, and I still can't get it to install.  I KNOW there has to be someone out there who has the knowledge to help me through this, and I'm nearly ready to chuck it out the window and go to another brand.  I just can't stand NOT being able to resolve the issue.

Re: Trouble Installing L7590 AIO

I am having almost the exact same problem with L7780 AIO.  It installed flawlessly on one computer, but will not complete the install on my other computer.  If I use the CD that came with the AIO it at least sees my printer on the network and installs the printer driver, but after I reboot to complete the installation it does not install the rest.  It does complete the solution center, but there is only printing.  If I try to install with the most recent downloaded software ti does find my printer on the network.  Each time I have uninstalled everything using 'Add/Remove Programs', then I go into Windows Explorer and delete the rest from programs.  When I do this I usually find some dll still running and it will not delete until I stop the process its running under. Then I can delete it as well.  None of this does me any good.  I know it is something in my computer that is stopping the process, but I cannot figure it out.

Re: Trouble Installing L7590 AIO

Hi Christina, I don't profess to be an expert for the solution center application by any strech, and I'm assuming that's where you problem lies. It seems to be a collection of modules and applications which control the various functions of the AIO printers.  I have encountered many issues installing, uninstalling, and re-installing earlier revisions of version 8 of this software under Vista 32 for a L7780 AIO printer.  They couldn't get the code to completely uninstall, and consequently would error upon reinstall.
I was even lucky? enough to have an HP tech spend 3 1/2 hrs., and do a remote takeover of my machine to help uninstall the complete app, to no avail. He found files in areas I never would have suspected!  Consequently, his only suggestion was to reinstall the OS- which I thought was just nuts. I told him before I do that to please escalate to a higher level support group- which he said he would and gave me a case number.  I never heard anything back at all. He did also acknowledge they have encountered many issues with the L77XX series AIO printers.  I would presume the same issues plague a number of their similar product offerings.
If you encounter any errors on reinstall, I would rocommend using a good registry cleaner, and doing a search for anything "hp", and selectively deleting. I also recommend doing a file directory search and delete also.  This seems to help get the OS back to a "clean" state prior to a reinstall of their latest version software.  Good luck!
I have used HP printer products for over 20 years and never encountered near the level of problems I have with this.  I suspect the quality of their printer software applications and testing has certainly suffered because of the number of layoffs and reshuffling they've had in recent years. In my opinion they have become a second tier manufacturer of printer hardware and software.
I recently bought a cheap Brother MFC-490CW for use while I'm on the road and absolutely love it!  If their higher end mult-ifunction printers work as well as this one HP is going to have serious competion.  Other than appealing to anyone on this forum that may be an attorney willing to file a class action suit against HP, I don't know what else to recommend!
Cheers, Mark

Re: Trouble Installing L7590 AIO

I had similar frustrations, and tried every variable and troubleshooting tip from the HP website that I could fine. Finally, I downloaded Firmware from the HP site, and reinstalled the software. Now everything works! This was after I had done several other things, so it might have been a combination of factors-- I updated drivers, uninstalled all HP products, and stopped the antivirus firewall and all "start up" programs while installing. I hope this helps you!

Re: Trouble Installing L7590 AIO

Had same problem. Tried to uninstall  and install a bunch of times.Install would hang at 96% and my PC could see the USB connection.. She did a level 2 uninstall and downloaded  the install program from HP web site. She said old software was causing the problem.  Now if I can get the Fax to work .LOL

Re: Trouble Installing L7590 AIO

I finally called hp support and got someone to help me.  But after 4 to 5 hours with him controlling my computer he said that he could do no more and would send it up to a higher level.  The next day someone from hp support called and said I could return the L7780 for a replacement or a refund.  I called office depot where I bought it and they said I was within the 30 days for returning it. So I returned the L7780 AIO and purchased a Brother MFC 9840CDW which I love.  I have owned many different hp printers and plotters over the last 24 years and up until these last few years I have been happy, but hp is not the same company that it was when Hewlit and Packard ran it.  Their software stinks.  Get rid of the hp printer and purchase  something else.

Re: Trouble Installing L7590 AIO

It has been 10 months with no resolution to my printer problem. I have learned to live with it, but am convinced that I'm going to have to leave HP, after being a loyal user for the past 15 years.  Up until now I have never conceived of having such problems with a printer, and apparently I'm not the only one!  It's quite discouraging that HP doesn't have any more capability to resolve such an obviously large problem.  I have spent countless hours on the phone with their support people on every level, and get no further ahead.  Hope this at least helps others know that they're not alone if they have this same problem.

I'm afraid I'll take the advise given a couple times, and move into another brand.  I depend on this machine for my business, and it's making life much more difficult than it needs to be!  Good luck!
