Trouble setting up HP 6500 wirelessly

Spent all day trying to install this printer.  Did all the usual, uninstall and try again.  It would not install with the USB cable but when connected it to my router (Xtremen-655) it installed.  Now it has an IP address so the next step is to disconnet the cable and see if it will work wirelessly.  I hope I hope.  I have a computer with Vista 32 and two others with Vista 64.  It will connect to the the HP Touchsmart but annot get it to install on the Vista 32 Gateway even with the install disk in that machine.

If I solve this proble HP should hire me.  There appears to be a lot of install problem with this model. I wanted a wireless printer so I could put it wherever.  My house is beginning to look like the IT server room.  Will be VERY upset if I can only make this printer work while wired to my network.  Yes I do have experience with home networking or I wouldn't have got this far.  The included directions do not work well.

This morning it asked me to send the failure logs to HP.   Reported that there was no known solution to my problem and told me to uninstall and try again.  Figured that out myself HP but thank you for collecting failure data and trying to make it right HP.

Anyone have suggestions? I'm not sure what to do next.

Re: Trouble setting up HP 6500 wirelessly

I'm almost 'happy' to hear someone else had the same problem.  I could not install HP Officejet 6500 printer on new computer with VISTA 64.  Tried all the suggested tricks.  After a day of frustration I called HP support and they led me through a full system restore... 2 hours later I reinstalled the driver from the website-- not the disk-- and everything's working.

I am not tech savy, there might be a simplier way, but this way did work.
