Unable to connect 6500a plus to wireless router

I have disabled everything. No WEP, no mac address filtering.

The wizard recognises the SSID broadcast, but fails to connect.

I tried adding the mac address to filters - no luck

I tried allocating a static ip in the router for the printer HostName, no luck

I tried setting the ip in the printer using the advanced manual configuration - it just reset to automatic

I tried using the PC utility - it said the printer was not connected to the network, well - yes - that is the problem.

I used a usb cable to attach the Printer to a pc connected to the router and then use the HP software to reconfigure it to wireless - no luck.

My wireless is wide open. Someone with a laptop never before used on the network managed to connect.

I printed the diagnostics pages...

Number of 802.11 networks discovered: 8, mine is at the top of the list as channel 1 privacy disabled signal -19 No WPS, no encryption

HP Network configuration page shows the correct Network Name(SSID) but Diagnostics summary shows Network Name (SSID) Found as FAIL

So the wizard finds the network, I select the SSID, it tries to join and fails...and the Diagnostics summary shows the Netwrok Name(SSID) correctly, but FAIL against the Network Name(SSID) found entry.

Any suggestions?

[ Edited ]

Just purchased a 6500A Plus today...have been trying to get it hooked up and have had the exact same issue....have tried doing everything you did...the only difference is I have a D-Link DIR 601...I had no problem with my HP 4680 connecting.
