Why is it that HP does not provide support here for their evidently Junk software?

  • I have tried for more that 10 hours to re-install software on a Win 7 network with the latest 64 bit downloads on an Officejet 6480. I have followed all HP instructions, I have followed any thread on here that has "Solved" next to it (amazing how few of those there actually are HP - are you even monitoring this Forum?) and tried countless scrubs of all HP history from each machine and each time it actually gets worse!!! Everything worked initially a year or two ago after a laborious download and initial problem solving session. Over the last couple of years there have been countless connectivity and software issues requiring re-installations of the software for each machine practcally weekly. Then, over the last few weeks, one by one each machine lost the "Scan" functionality - error message saying another device was communicating and it could not connect. Using the patches provided, the latest downloads and the scan diagnostics it would still never connect the TWAIN function. Each time I tried something it would gradually lose functionality. Now on the latest uninstall it has frozen in the middle of that! I would not have persevered for this long except for the fact that I have about $200 worth of ink cartridges for this POS.
  • HP - you MAY have "won" this time, but I can absolutely guarantee you that I will NEVER purchase ANYTHING else EVER with an HP label on it, and I strongly recommend everyone else here to do the same. Your gouging practices on ink cartridges notwithstanding, your software SUCKS and your support for your products is NON-EXISTENT. You are a great indicator of why the US economy is in such dire straits - you cannot produce a quality product nor provide any Customer Support - the two basics. Thanks for playing!

Amen to that. We run a business here and can not successfully uninstall and then re-install this $400.00 L7590 all in one with the windows 7. Sucks, this was our first time with HP and will be our last. Never in the last 15 years have we ever had such a hard time, and we have had several different printers. Yes, they got us once, never again. Customer service sucks, online forum sucks.

One of HP's biggest problem is that every printer uses a different kind of software, and none seem to be very compatiable. These devices mainly print, scan, and fax.

Why HP won't build one solid piece of software for the front end, and let the back end of the software take care of handling the device is beyond me.

There really is no reason why EVERY PRINTER has to have specilaized software... NONE!   Standardize the software and you've got half the battle won.

It's great that they all come with fancy scanning and faxing software, but HP NEVER keeps those up to date with the latest versions of the OS they run on.   No doubt it's a lot of work writing updated software for every printer you've ever made.. but again... if they would just standardize the UI of the software, they'd have a lot less code to worry about.
