Re: Windows Vista Driver for HP 1215 Photosmart Printer

You can use the Deskjet 990 driver built into Vista. Do the following:  go to Start, Control Panel, Printers, Add A Printer,Add a Local Printer, Use an existing port, LPT1: (even if the printer is really on USB, we will correct that later), Next, Manufacturer HP, Printers HP Deskjet 990c, Next, (set as default if you want) Next, Finish.  If the printer is connected by LPT1 then you are done.  If the printer is connected via USB then go to the printers folder, right click on the Deskjet 990c, Run as Administrator, Propertties, (Continue for the UAC prompt), Ports and then select the appropriate USB or DOT4 port.

Re: Windows Vista Driver for HP 1215 Photosmart Printer

Bob,

Same same trouble with 1215 driver and followed up your advise. However 990c driver which was correctly installed, doesn't work at all.

The old driver Vista proposes the psc 1200 series creates odd table output (xls table with lines above and below rows that are up/down jumping).

With XP it all works just fine, this very same XLS file, yet with Vista I tried copy-paste the table into a new XLS just to make sure, even that gave me the same result in output.

Re: Windows Vista Driver for HP 1215 Photosmart Printer

I gave you the information for thePhotosmart 1215 printer.  (Printer only with card slots, circa ~2000).  Is your printer actually the PSC 1215 printer/scanner/copier?  That would make a difference....

Bob,

You are right, overlook that one. The PSC 1215 is what I have alright.

Re: Windows Vista Driver for HP 1215 Photosmart Printer

I have installed the 990c driver on my laptop computer.  I did not have the usb port available you described.  The only usb port available is a virtual printer port.  I have th 1215 printer plugged into one of the usb ports.
