can not fax from pc to M1536dnf MFP

I have spent hours on this and find no resolution.  MY computer functions perfectly but I can not get the HPtoolboxfx stuff to run so I can't turn on the fax to pc function I guess.  Scan, print, normal fax works as it should.

I've got the framework 1.1, current windows xp pro with all updates, etc.

I will need to return this to the store if I can't resolve the issue ...

Seems Hp isn't helpful but then why should they be ... LOL.

This appears to be a VERY stale, unresolved issue for sure.

Hi rexlan,

You will need to uninstall the printer, and then update your .net framework to .netframework 3.5 SP1, and then reinstall the printer. Also make sure you are running SP3 on XP. Let me know if you still have the same issue?

Thanks for trying; however, I don't think that information is inaccurate.

I have netframework 3.5 SP1 and SP3 on XP Pro. installed but that is not the issue.

All of the documentation I have found says the Hp software requires V1.1 even if you have another version.  That said though, I also happen to have an updated copy of V1.1 as well.

The real issue is that the install software CD, as well as the Hp full solution M1530 file, fails to install the correct driver needed by the fax to PC software.  It installs the MFP series printer 

PCL6 and the MFP 1530 series fax ... that is all..  The fax function will not work with those printers/drivers and that is the issue/reason.

Give it a try for yourself.  Then perhaps you can add the correct information someplace so folks can find it and get the installation CD corrected or at least an update to correct it.  There really isn't much excuse for it, especially from Hp.

Yes I can and could originally -- nothing wron with teh fax or line.

I resolved the issue late yesterday.

The fax to PC SW seems to require the Universal PCL5 driver and when it is installed full functionallity is obtained.  I downloaded that driver from your site seperately.  It is not on teh CD I received when I bought this a few months ago.

I think that this is inexcusable from Hp.  I spent an inordinate amount of time on this, othere seem to have given up, and if you Google the issue you will see that it is an ongoing problem with pages and pages of complaints and not a single resolution to be found.  I just got lucky.

I have also verified the solution on all 3 units on my network and all 3 now have full functionallity after installing teh PCL5 printer.
