Dear Magick3:
That would be great if this thread did not have "Windows 7" in the title.

Reading all this is really disappointing. I was about to upgrade my computer due to the slowness of editing HD video. But I spent $220 on new color cartridges for my CM1017 about 2 months ago. Then another $100 because the laser needed cleaning. So I'd certainly want it to work. Not only has it been a good color printer, but the scanning is critical. For what I spent on the printer, one would think HP could make a driver.

I have a CM 1017 MFP that worked great with Windows XP on my old HP computer. With my new HP computer with Windows 7 I have loaded what appears to be an all-purpose driver (UPD PCL) that gets my printer to work (It's slow) and for some software many of the colors come out black and white. The copier works OK but the scanner doesn't work at all. I found something I must have loaded on my desktop called "Full Solution" or something like that- for the CM1015-1017 MFP. I was going to uninstall my current driver and install the "Full Solution" until I saw it was written in 2008. Would loading this be a step backward?

Dear Golubki:

The short answer is: No.
If you go to HP's website and search for drivers for your system you see, "This document provides instructions on how to install the LaserJet CM1015/1017 XP/Vista 32 bit and 64 bit, full solution software in "compatibility mode" in Windows 7."
If you search this HP Support Forum you will find that solution may work if you have a 32-bit version of Windows 7. That solution did not work for me as I had a 64-bit version of Windows 7. I ended up selling my printer at a loss and purchasing another printer.
HMMMMMN, that may be difficult though, as the full software solution module has been removed from the drivers database.
Good luck.
Sincerely,
Jeff V. Pulver

Dear Sinto:
Have you tried right-clicking the executable in Windows Explorer and select Run as administrator?
Cheers,

And then it says:
"The operating System on this computer does not match the supported operating systems. This is only a warning message. The installation can continue.
Current OS: 601.00
Recomendation:Install this product on a computer that has one of the supported Microsoft operating systems or refer to your computers documentation for information on upgrading your computers operating system.
Please note: If the current operating system is reported as a number, this is because the operating system was released after your HP software."
I am the only person to use this computer and have full administrator rights. I've used the Vista installation disc reasoning that it has got more chance than the XP one. I did a full check before purchasing the new software using the 'Windows 7 compatability" program. It reported that all was OK. that there were updated files at HP. I've not found them yet. Can anyone suggest a work around.
