does HP support its printers under Windows 8?

well, hp, the time has come.  our hp laserjet 1000 has died.

and is our new printer, an HP one?

well, gee, i kinda remember HP refused to support its printers under windows 7.

not even a popular printer like the hp laserjet 1000.

and there is no promise to support any HP printers under Windows 8.

guess what, we DID think about all that in deciding what to buy.

i know you think people will just buy a new HP printer regardless.

i wish we had bought a new HP printer, but you just don't make that practical.

I have a perfectly good Laserjet 1000 that I love, but now HP tells me that I have to replace it because they choose not to issue a driver for Windows 8.  Great business model. 

YOU CAN MAKE ME BUY A NEW PRINTER, BUT YOU CAN'T MAKE ME BUY AN HP.  Never again, not for any desk in my company.

Hope it's worth the lost business, HP.

You're stating the obvious, Sabertooth. The problem is that a product line is discontinued long before the service life of the product is finished. HP is arbitrarily forcing its customers to replace printers that are still fully finctional (except for the lack of a driver). Again, thank you HP from a FORMER customer.

Well, I understand your frustration but on that same pretense I want to know why my Pentium 1 90Mhz computer which runs Windows 3.1 just fine but for some reason it won't run Windows 7 or 8.  I was forced to upgrade my computer because of software?  Hummmm....

10 years is pretty good for a printer to say the least.  Anywho, all manufacturers have the same problem of deciding when to set an End of Support date.  Lots of factors go into that decision, as I speak from experience.   Have a good day and thanks for your thoughts.
