flashing lights on the control panel hp photosmart 7280 all in one

:smileyfrustrated:Just downloaded an updated version for the hp photosmart 7280 printer. During and after this process an odd thing occurred. The lights on all the panel blink. I can shut down printer and bring back on line but a little while later it started blinking again. I have windows 7. How can I stop this from reoccurring?:smileyfrustrated:

Hi madre912,

What lights are blinking?

What does the LCD screen display?

What update did you install?

The lights blinking are all of them lol! the LCD screen freezes and or goes black. I was trying to update my version for my computer bc I wanted to be able to make double sided prints. It was the one recommended for my hp photosmart 7200 series. (mine is a 7280)

thanks

Hi madre912,

If you disconnect the USB cable from the printer to the computer does the printer boot up correctly?

When disconnected from the computer try printing a self test report. Let me know if you are able to print this test page?

Hi idsall,

Make sure that the power is plugged directly into the wall outlet.

Does the printer work ok when you reboot it?

Does this only happen when it enters power save mode?

HP designed a quick and easy tool that diagnoses and resolves many hardware problems: The HP Hardware Diagnostic Utility. These hardware problems can prevent printing, scanning, or copying. HP recommends that you download and install the Hardware Diagnostic Utility any time you need to troubleshoot a hardware problem.

Let me know what errors you receive?

Re: flashing lights on the control panel hp photosmart 7280 all in one

Thanks for the quick response.

The printer is plugged directly into the wall outlet and i'm assuming by rebooting you meen using the power button to shutdown and then power it back on then yes.

I think you maybe right about the power save mode because this has happened over the weekend and noticed this today.

If i shutdown the printer or unplug it, when i plug it back into the mains and do not power the printer on after approx 2 minutes that when the lights start flashing on the control panel and the display panel displays the code.  Each time it seems to be different.

These are the codes i've received:

B4008002

B0080252

BA010398

E2FF0780

The HP Hardware Diagnostic Utility say the HP Photosmart 7200 series is not currently supported by this utility.

Hope this helps

Re: flashing lights on the control panel hp photosmart 7280 all in one

Hi idsall,

This appears to be a hardware or power adapter issue with the printer. Let me know what you find out?

Try plugging the printer into a different power outlet to see if you experience the same issues?

If you have another power adapter you may want to try using it to see if you experience the same issue?
