hp 6500 printer

During the initial setup and just starting thr printer after installing the ink cartridges we got a message about a paper jam.  It never sucked any paper into the printer adn no matter what we do to clear the phantom jam, we keep getting the message.  It has not yet printed the test page. Any thoughts?

Remove the rear clean-out panel or duplexer (if you have one) and remove any paper or blue-tape remnants visible.  If the problem persists, you may have a bad printer in which case you should get a replacement from where you purchased the printer.
