hp photosmart c4750 install/uninstall problem

I am ready to pull my hair out. I have tried everything to get this printer software to install/uninstall. Various messages, latest one says newer version already installed. Installation cannot locate temp file with setup hpzpnp40.exe, HP Scan diagnostic tool: "scan driver corrupt or missing". I have used every tool on HP website to fix, get messages saying "unable to locate files, please try to uninstall manually." Problems were found: no driver, no HP solution center, no HP twain. I have used all the uninstall tips I found in forum. Reinstall does not work. Lenovo Win7 laptop, Win7 Home Premium Service Pack 1, Intel Core i5-2410M CPU 2.3GHz.
