i want to scan, "scan error try scan from computer"

I just got this and everything is working fine except I can not use the scan function. I get an error message that says "scan error try scan from computer"

Hi maxxie11,
What printer do you have?
Try the following steps below. Let me know if you are able to scan after running the steps.
IMPORTANT: To send scans from your product to a computer over a network, you must enable the Activate Scan to Computer connection from the HP software after the computer restarts, hibernates, or enters sleep mode (hard disc shuts down).- Press the Power button (
) to turn the product on. - Open the HP software using one of the following methods:
- Double-click the product icon (
) on your desktop. - Click Start (
), click All Programs , click the HP folder, click the folder with the name of your product series, and then click your product. - Under Scanner Actions , click Activate Scan to Computer .
- Try to scan from the product control panel.

I dont see "Scanner Action" under my product (step 5 of your instruction)
