my hp 940c seems to work ok on my new hp p7 1010 but I don't have toolkit on desktop

I just purchased an HP p7-1010PC and connected my HP 940c deskjet. It seems to work ok but I noticed I do not have the desktop icons for the printer and the toolkit that I had on my other HP computer. Do I need to reinstall using the disc that came with the printer?

Hi,

For windows 7, Your HP 940c printer uses a print driver from Windows Update.  That sounds like it is working for you at this point for printing.  There is no full software solution at this time for your printer.  There is a document that explains how to access functionality for your device in Win7 without that software.

So, I interpret what you are saying to mean there is no longer a toolbox. I had searched around on my printer and found the information you indicated but was hoping some of the other functions such aligning cartridges, cleaning print heads, etc. were still available. Guess they are no longer there. How does one align print heads if the printer is not printing properly?

Hi,

Yes there is no toolbox for your device in Win7.  I was looking through the manual online and did not see a button press for the align cartridges from the front panel buttons.  I did not see a solution for you in there.  the link I sent you says something similar.

I believe an Align cartridges procedure is automatically done when you insert a new cartridge so that could be another way to intiate a align cartridge.
