Might your Mac have HP software for this printer that was NOT meant for 10.7?

I took the latest driver from the HP web site, so far the network part of the the equipment I bought is not working. I don't think it is a hardware issue. The printer work fine on USB connection but it should also work on network. There is nothing complicated on my network which use a 4 port router. The Mac can access the officejet 4500 thru safari. I can see all information and status of cartriges, which is fine but the main reason to buyy a network printer is to connect it to a network.
driver is HP_Lion_Ink_SW_v12.13.15.dmg

OK, what router brand & model?
Download and install this: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL907
Reset the printing system:
- Go to System Preferences > Print & Scan
- Right (or control) click in the rectangle listing your printers and select Reset Printing System.
WARNING - this will delete ALL of your printers!
- Select the plus sign to re-add a printer. Select the Defualt tab on the top of the window. Look for the printer, select it and wait until the "Add" button becomes available. Click it.

I was able to make the printer work on the network!!! Now the scanner is not working properly the quality is so poor i could barely read the scan version of a ducument I printed with the printer (which was find by the way).
I would like to thanks the HP support for the helpful comment. I spend so much time trying to make my device work as it should, I am a bit disapointed with HP. These simple task should be plug and play.

The scan quality is probably a low dpi setting. Check to see what your scan dpi is set to.
