I am very disappointed with Hp. I have not been able to get the "solution Center" scan option to work since they "updated" to ver 13.
The HPISCNAPP program works fine, so I have to assume that something is messed up in the code. Of course HP is not willing to trouble shoot this because the hardware is out of warranty.
I am running this on a quad core AND with 12gb ram running windows 7 ultimate.
While I am at it I would also like to mention that I updated the software for a photosmart 4780 the other day and the install kept failing because the downlaoder saves a file in the temp folder under one name then the installer looked for the file using a different name and of course could not find it. When I renamed the file to match the name the installer was looking for it worked fine. I find this to be extremely sloppy programming and trouble shooting work. Good work HP

Did the computer came up with Win 7 pre-installed on it
OR
did u upgrade Windows Vista to Win 7 ?

The windows 7 install was fresh install not an upgrade. The scanner was working perfectly until I installed your updated software.

Hello RBSailing,
Since you have downloaded the Officejet 5610 printer software and tried installing it, there would be Folder whose name would start with 7z...
What we need to do now is to completely uninstall the s/w of Officejet 5610, below are the steps.
- Click on START , in search box type in %temp% and hit the ENTER Key , to open the TEMP Folder.
- Locate the folder 7z.... and open it.
- Open UTIL
- Open CCC
- Run the file Uninstall_L3.bat
- Restart the PC.
- Access the TEMP folder and the 7z folder for Officejet 5610,
- Scroll down to bottom of the window where you'd find the setup.exe with hp logo on it .
- Double click on the setup.exe to begin the installation.

It just keeps getting better. I followed your instructionsm however there is no folder starting with 7z in the C:/users/Charles/appdata/local/temp folder.... Even hard windows explorer search the c Drive for the file you mentioned. It could not find it either. Funny thing is that it was ther before??? The uninstall program is ther in the HP Programs folder. I will try to remove it that way. I think that some how the program is not being completely removed anfd that messes up the reinstal.

I am trying to unistall the HP software using the unistall program. It keeps looking for the trayapp.msi file which is stored in the 7z*** folder in the temp folder. But the whole thing is missing. I tried copying it from the original disk which is for Vista, buit it gives me an error there too.
Anu ideas on how to manually remove this and hopefully get a clean start. I also do not understand why the folder disappeared.

Hello RBSailing,
Please find the below link to download the s/w for th printer.
Select the Operating System from drop down menu. Click NEXT .
Click on Driver - Product Installlation software.
- HP Deskjet and Officejet Full Feature Software and Drivers.
Run the download and follow the steps mentioned in the earlier post.

First I would like to thank the contibuters for their help.
Current situation:
1.I found that there were a couple of instalations of the software on different hardrives??????
So i removed everything
2. I ran the unistall again just to make sure there was nothing left.
3. Reinstalled software and drivers
4. ran scanner diagnostic which determined that the patch for the scanner was needed. I downloaded and installed that. First time that it has worked.
5. Scanner does work, but it takes about 5 minutes for the computer to open the sanner interface after you have clicked on the scann documnet button the "solution Center"
6. The diagnostice program determined that the scanner option at the printer interface need to be updated so I tried running that from the setting tab in the solution center. It failed 3 times. I tried rebooting disconnecting and removing power to the printer and all that. Did not help.
When ever there is a proble it seems that HP feels its Ok to say just unistall and reinstall the software!!!! I guess they have NEVER performed this task which takes about 1 1/2 hours of waiting.
I am ready to go out and buy a new printer and I can asure you that it will not be an HP
Let me restate that the whole thing was working fine until HP updated the software...

Could you try Restoring you computer to the date when Solution Center was working .
OR
Created a new USER ACCOUNT with Admin rights and install the s/w .

Thnaks for the reply. At this time I am no interested in working with this version of the software any longer. I have spent close to 20 hours trying to get it to work. I am done
Does anyone know wheree I can get en earlier version like 12.0 or something THAT WORKS. I am sooooo sorry I downloaded this update
