Re: printer cannot scan to computer

Me too.  I loaded Windows 7 Ultimate, 64 bit, service pack 1 onto my Dell Precision 380 which can handle 64 bit O/S and has dual processors.

I was told that the new O/S had the appropriate drivers.  But it would not recognize the scanning function of the Officejet 9110.  I tried a number of times.

Then at HP's site I found there was an "Install Wizard for Windows 7".  It quickly found the printer, but then advised "The selected printer is not currently supported by this Wizard".  Then I was directed to "Customer Care" where I tried to find a new driver and I was told that the drivers were included with Windows 7.  But

""With the in-OSdriver, some of the buttons on the product do not function and some of the advanced product features are not available. For more information about your in-OS driver, and to see workarounds for lost functionality, go to our Frequently asked questions below.""
The Windows "Fax and Scan" function does not work for scanning since Windows does not even see the scanner.
The Paint program method also does not work for scanning; again because Windows does not see the scanner.
-- came "full circle" on this one.

So, then I came here to see what others are doing.

Re: printer cannot scan to computer

Do I need "XP mode" for Win7?

That is where I started, but I could not tell.  So, I went to "Windows 7 Compatibility Center" to find out what I could about the Officejet 9110.

There I was told that it was compatible, but there was a "free download required".  When I clicked on that link it took me to HP's website where I started all over again.

Maybe I need the "XP mode" for Win 7, but I do not know yet.
