scanner for deskjet F2210 won't work--error19

I got a new printer scanner copier, used the CD everything worked but the scanner.  Did all the trouble shooting it advised twice--no luck--says my imaging device is not found.  Called HP--re did everything again several times, downloaded driver from site, spent a total of 9 hours (2 days) and they finally said it was my computer driver--a microsoft problem with the driver.  I was getting an error 19 for the driver.  After investigating, found solutions (NOT) did them twice, no luck.  Down loaded diagnostic tool from HP-no luck.  I even tried a regsitry mechanic (their suggestion) that has not done a thing for the problem.  I'm running Windows XP Media Center edition.  I have way plenty of space for everything.  ANy ideas or just forget scanning?

At least you got that far.  I've tried installing the drivers on two different computers and can't make it through the install.
