Suddenly my hp8500A is having a gaggle of problems!
1) How do I clear my fax log, as it says it is full and will not send or receive any faxes until I clear it?
2) Why is it suddenly saying the ink cartridge "failed"? and that the cartridge door is open when nothing has been touched and we just printed successfully moments ago? Suddenly it has a problem, but what could be the cause?
I have now tried removing the Blk cartridge, which is the one the printer says is the problem, and have reinserted it. After doing so I was able to successfully print 1 page of a multi-page document before I now received the error msgs again!

Hello kellyproc,
Sorry for the issues you are experiencing with your printer. Lets see if we can address them for you.
1. How do I clear the fax log, as it says it is full and will not send or receieve any faxes until I clear it?
To delete all the faxes in memory from the control panel
▲ Depending on the model you have, do one of the following:
•
Two–line display: Press (Setup), select Clear Fax Log.
All faxes stored in memory are deleted from memory.
• Color display: Touch Setup, select Tools, and then select Clear Fax Log.
To clear fax logs via the embedded Web server
▲ Select the Settings tab, select Fax Options from the left pane, and then click the
Clear button under the Clear Fax Logs heading.
2) Why is it suddenly saying the ink cartridge "failed"? and that the cartridge door is open when nothing has been touched and we just printed successfully moments ago? Suddenly it has a problem, but what could be the cause?
Although the wording may not be the same the issue should still be the same and troubleshooting steps should be the same. See if one of these troubleshooting articles helps resolve the problem.
