CAN ANYONE HELP?

My brand new HP PHOTOSMART 5510d printer says it is

ready ( on the display, my laptop, and its report )

connected

port 9100 status enabled

bonjour enabled

SLP enabled

It scans , copies, etc

BUT IT DOESNT PRINT A SINGLE LETTER FROM MY LAPTOP !!

Replies directed at a frazzled half wit with an IQ of 35 from planet mars looking at a printer for the first time ever much appreciated
