unable to Install HP Officejet 4500 K710

I´m installing a HP Officejet 4500 K710 on a MACBook Pro ( OS X 10.7 ) downloaded the required software from HP Support site but doesn´t work ... once including the printer tries to get the software required and comes with this message:

" Configuring "OfficeJet 4500 K710" software for the printer is not available at this time. Please contact printer hardware provider to get access to latest software.

Any Idea, Is the printer that I use on my business office and need it urgently.

Hi,

Please try the following steps and let me know if that work:

First, Make sure the printer is powered on and connected to your Mac.

Next, repair the Disk Permissions:

1. Open the the Applications folder.
2. Go to the Utilities folder.
3. Double-click on Disk Utility.
4. Select the hard drive containing the boot volume.
5. Go to the First Aid tab and select Repair Disk Permissions.
Note: This process may take several minutes depending on the Mac and amount of permissions that need to be repaired. The Progress Log will indicate when the proccess has been completed.

Make sure you use the Lion software and not any version intended for different OS:

Finally, update the latest software by clicking the Apple icon and then Software Update.

Did what you recommended and doesn´t work ... downloaded suggested version, checked permissions and still same message appears. Are there any other actions to be taken?

Yes,

Try installing the HP Printer Drivers 2.9 package.

It is a bit large download, but I believe it should do the trick.

Software downloaded and installed ... now a final question: How do I use it on the installation process? Once I´m adding the printer do I have to indicate the program any particular directory to get it from?

By installing thast package, the software should be detected automatically while adding the printer under System Preferences > Print & Scan.

If not, try selecting the printer and then click the Print Using drop down. Click Select Printer Software.

In the search box, click K710 - you should see the driver listed.

If you cannot find it under the Printer Software list, it seems as something in your system preventing the software installation.. Please let me know so we can try some additional steps.

I work as a consultant and installing a printer “HP LaserJet 400 colorMFP M475dw (022320) …El software para esta impresora no está disponible en estos momentos. Póngase en contacto con el fabricante de la impresora para obtener el software más reciente". Obviously in Spanish ... but it means that is happening same situation that with the HP Officejet 4500.

Hi,

The issue seems more likely related to your operating system and will affect any printer.. even the package provided by Apple has failed to install.

Are you trying to install the printer on a personal Mac or maybe a work computer? do you have full Administrator privilleges for that computer?

I would recommend you to try creating a new user account and try installing the software.

1. Open System Preferences from the Dock or via Apple menu.

2. Click on the 'Accounts' preference

3. Click the Lock to authenticate and enter your password

4. Click the '+' under the list of users

5. Set the 'New Account' type to 'Administrator'

6. Give this new user any name and password that you want

7. Click 'Create Account'

From the Apple menu, click Log off.

Log on to the newly created account and try installing the printer again.

If the same problem persist, I would recommend you to contact Apple support for any further suggestions.

I googled How to reset Lion OS Printing system and did it ... apparently is working fine. Thanks for all your help.
