Make sure the USB cable is unplug before performing the installation.

I have a 3 yr old hp pavillion laptop that I updraded from vista to Windows 7.  My HP C4500 printer will not connect wirelessly now.  My installation disk for the printer is for xp and vista only. 

 I tried to reinstall the printer using the solution given to me for my new laptop --  hp.com/pub/softib/software11/COL30130/mp-74912-1ps AIO 04 C4500 USW Full Win WW 130 140 

from this same location.  The installation did not complete and came up with the following info that was submitted to hp via the internet:

Operating System:  601-64 (6.17601.1)

Language:  English

Date and Version:  10/07/09  130.000.140.000

Error Situation Code:  24669712

Log Files:  24669712.zip

I hope this gives you some information so you may come up with a soution to reconnect wirelessly.

I had the same problem as Peg; the printer was purcjased for a system with Windows Vista; then I switched to Windows 7 and things went downhill from there.

Thanks for the help & simple solution, it worked perfectly.  In fact, a couple of probelms were remediated; thanks!
