unable to reinstall c8180 software

hi,

have been trying to reinstall c8180 printer software but keep getting the following error

the installer has insufficient privileges to modify file c:\windows\system32\spool\drivers\w32x86\3 hpfax.ini

have full admin privileges and also ran the install as administrator. Have followed all the online hp resolutions but nothing has worked.

Try using the scrubber built into the CD or Download.

From Original installation CD:

1. Insert CD into drive, and then cancel the installer

2. Open My Computer, and then right click on the CD drive and chose open

3. Open folder Util

4. Open folder CCC

5. If you have an HP computer run the L3uninstall.exe. If you have a non-HP computer run the L4uninstall.exe

6. When the uninstall has completed restart the computer

7. Run Disk cleanup from Accessories\ System Tools

8. Download and install the latest version of Adobe flash player

9. Download the full feature software and drivers

10. Run the download to reinstall the printer

If software was downloaded and extracted to your system:

1. Type %temp% in the run field

2. Look for, and open the folder starting with 7z (Example: 7zS2356)

3. Open folder Util

4. Open folder CCC

5. If you have an HP computer run the L3uninstall.exe. If you have a non-HP computer run the L4uninstall.exe

6. When the uninstall has completed restart the computer

7. Run Disk cleanup from Accessories\ System Tools

8. Download and install the latest version of Adobe flash player

Sounds like you don't have administrations rights on this computer?

Install the printer on a different computer, and let me know if you have the same issue?

Thank you for replying so promptly. ( 1 ) I ran the program as administrator, with administrations privileges, the same Fault occured. ( 2 ) I then created an account with administrator privileges, under a different name and ran, same fault occured.

Is it OK to delete the contents of folder 3 ?

Checked on a different computer, installed OK, then uninstalled perfectly without any problems.

These are the files which are still in the registry folder 3. Would you recommend deleting this folder out?

Hi jimmyh35uk,

No, I would not delete any folders under your windows directory. It appears that you have some operating system issues on this computer. If you are still unable to install the printer after running the scrub steps provided in Message 2 of 8 then you may need to backup your data files on this computer, and run a full system recovery. This will place the PC back to way it was when you purchased it. After the recovery is finished install the printer before installing any additional software.

Thank you for your advice regarding deleting registry files. Managed to uninstall hp files, Unfortunately I still have

a problem? I installed the latest software. It finished loading and tells me, the latest software installed correctly

with no error problems. opened control panel, printers, printer is ready to go. I then tried to print a test page, an

error came up, the printer driver is not installed, answered yes, to request to install the latest drive for c8100

series, tried to print another test page same error? I'm running program under full administrator. Any idea's

would be greatly appreciated.
