usb cable for photosmart 2710

My printer won't print and there is power.   I have tried different slots but to no avail.  I have unstalled the software and reinstalled.

 

The  USB cable I have is from my previous printer, Epson.   Would this be the reason why it won't print or do I need to buy an "HP" usb cable?

The USB cables are standard, that should not be the problem.  Can you make a copy?  This does not use the computer (or cable), if the copy does not work the issue is in the printer.

 

Are there any error messages on the computer or printer screen?
