MY NEW LAPTOP IS A PAVILION g7 - 1151SA AND HAS WINDOWS 7 OPERATING SYSTEM. PRINER IS A HP LASERJET 1010, MODEL NUMBER IS Q2 460A. I HAVE USED THE ORIGINAL INSTALLATION DISC WHICH CAME WITH THE PRINTER BUT GET THE ERROR MESSAGE SAYING THAT "GENERIC IEEEE 1284.4 IS OUT OF DATE". WHEN I ASK IT TO UPDATE IT, IT COMES BACK SAYING "DRIVER IS UP TO DATE". BUT IT STILL DOES NOT WORK.
THE PRINTER WAS PREVIOUSLYCONNECTED TO A PAVILION dv7 RUNNING WINDOWS VISTA.

This is a user to user forum, so please bear in mind that I looked this up for you.
There is no kind way to state this. The HP1010 is not going to be supported under WIN7: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/D

What might work is if you do a add a printer, and then run the windows update to get full list of available printers. Once the update is finished look for the HP Laserjet 1015 driver, and then install it. Let me know if this is a viable work around to not have a 1010 driver.

Thank you for that. I have since found the same answer by getting the HP website to check the printers on my computer for updates. Amazing that Win7 doesn't support my favoirite printer but I guess I'll have to live with it.
